Theres why GW didn't sell too well in Korea... it's not that big of a country. Most European countries are larger than that, and their all united under one server. That's why I say they should unite all Asian territories to form 1 server.
Of course, this is assuming GW wasn't sold in north Korea:

Of course those numbers keep dwindling, and we only have a few hardcore Korean guilds left. NCSoft has been doing EVERYTHING possible to get more people to join Guild Wars, like they are doing a new event where Korean people can try Guild Wars prophecies and Factions (when it comes out in NA/EU) free of charge till Factions releases for Korea (it releases for them later).

I don't know where these figures come from but I've heard quite opposite from some of my best Korean friends. At least they say Guild Wars is hanging pretty good considering Lineage 2 and couple other MMO's (some not released outside Asia) have 'conquered' that land ..
It's true yeah that Korea hasn't got a lot of Favour lately but it's more like a Seasonal thing. First Korea held favour like no other, then it was America's turn and finally EU, next Japan&Taiwan players want to go UW/FoW even more and that will have impact to their PvP side. Players take break from PvP and move to some other game or get back their long lost social life and come back later to start fresh or continue with old chars. I mean that's the best thing in Guild Wars. You can put it back on the bookshelf and pick it up later.
Concept of subscription free game is behaving like this. You don't have a feeling that omg i have to play 10 more hours so that I use that Subs Fee totally. So you're free to move on to next game and come back when next chapter comes. And I think this "Where are the Koreans" has a lot to do with this.
I just can't believe this game hasn't sold well in Korea. Look just how much Korean players have achieved in the past year.

I agree, I don't think GW Asia in general has done a good job in their advertisement of GW.. for Taiwan, a lot of things were done really bad.
Off topic... GW advertising in was appalling in Taiwan, we had the no-monthly fee option but instead the pay-to-play was advertised heavily!! That's just bad advertising.. and right now, you can easily pick up pay-to-play GW boxes off convinient store shelves, whereas the no-monthly fee packages are only available off internet (pay over internet).
Luckily with Factions coming out, you can soon buy no-monthly fee package at the stores again.. but it will soon move over to pay over internet AGAIN.
No advertising on Factions, and it's 1 week prior release.. gg GW:Taiwan..

if you can get Koreans and Japanese to cooperate hand in hand, you'll probably receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
but, making an "Asian" language-based server would probably be a good idea. one section for Korean speakers, one section for Japanese speakers, and different sections for the different versions of Chinese out there.
probably wishful thinking.

1) GW didn't do well in Korea.
2) Also, Asians are known to try every new "free" game in the market which westerners call "free loaders".
3) Casual games are the "in" thing here in Asia now.
4) Korean-specific, they're beginning to enjoy RPG type Online Games (read Richard Garriott interviews since he left Origins to present).
5) GW isn't in the Top 5 online games and Top 10 (general/all) games in Korea (for the past 6 months) in 'most' game ranking services and sites in the country.
Finally, Koreans are, being Asians, are into Korean made products than "Western", yes, nationalism is very high here in Asia-Pacific. ^_^

I think what happened was all the Japanese and Taiwan players were put into Korea. Then when they got their own districts they moved out.

No that's not the case, Japan and Taiwan+Hong Kong got their individual language district upon their releases. Taiwanese/Chinese did not share with Koreans at anytime, at least I failed to spot any Koreans and our district always were named "Taiwanese/Hong Kong Dis 1" or something along that line.

Same thing happened with the last ladder reset. Evil and WM weren't on it for maybe the first week, then they decided to dominate... Oh yeah... Look where they are now...
Start worrying in a week.

Well even here the only thigns advertised about Guild Wars was "FREE TO PLAY, No grinding, mpking, will revolutionize MMORPGS" and taking into account what Ensign added, it's pretty clear why there's not alot of Korean players.
Add a monthly fee, and advertise it as an MMORPG and not a PvP heavy game and what do you have? A very weak PvE experience compared to games like FFXI, Lineage II, WoW, EQII etc.
Mind you not all of those are big in Korea, but if Guilds Wars was pay to play I can think of probably 10 other MMORPGS I'd rather be playing, especially if I had no clue there was even any PvP in Guild Wars. Not to mention that without a continuous stream fo expansions and new content, many players will simply leave and go on to something else Koreans/Americans/Europeans alike.
